Compass volunteers are the heart of the ministry. Each week they welcome students, lead Bible lessons, sit with students at lunch, keep everyone safe, and make sure each child knows they are loved.

How to become a volunteer

Five steps to serving.

  1. 01

    Apply

    Complete the volunteer application.

  2. 02

    Background check

Receive instructions for the required background check.

  3. 03

    Child safety training

Complete the Compass Child Safety Video.

  4. 04

    Onboarding

    Complete any additional onboarding requirements.

  5. 05

Receive confirmation and information about serving.

Serving with students is a position of trust. Submitting an application does not automatically authorize anyone to serve. Volunteers may serve only after passing the background check, completing child safety training, and receiving confirmation from Compass leadership.

Expectations

Every volunteer agrees to:

  • Support Compass’s mission, values, policies, and expectations as a Christian ministry
  • Understand that serving with Compass is a position of trust
  • Follow Compass policies and instructions
  • Treat every student with respect and dignity
  • Tell Compass leadership if they can’t fulfill a scheduled commitment
  • Authorize a background check and complete Compass’s Child Safety Video
